The Meramec Valley R-III School District honored veterans during the week of Veterans' Day, November 7th through 11th. MVMS students chose a veteran to interview, researching his or her service and creating a project to display in the hallways. Students invited their veterans to an assembly and shared their projects afterwards. Several schools hosted Veterans' Day events, including musical performances, drill presentations by the PHS Marine Corps JROTC, and guest speakers. PHS graduates served as guest speakers, including Missouri State Representative Paul Curtman and Seaman John Cain, USCG. Over 81% of Meramec Valley students cast a ballot through the Kids Voting – Missouri program (KVMO) on Election Tuesday and the day before, taking part in the democratic process and making their voices heard. Students in grades 6-12 were able to vote on many of the same candidates and issues that adult voters saw on their ballots. On Halloween night, Pacific FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) members took to the streets to do some trick or treating. Instead of going door to door for the candy, they went around trick or treating for canned food items. The goal this year was to collect 500 items. They exceeded that by collecting over 600 items.
